Squier Affinity Series
Browse our RangeThe perfect instrument to start to playing electric guitar or bass.
The Squier Affinity Series is a great option for the budding guitarist in your life that’s looking for their first guitar or bass. This range has great electric guitars for beginners that want to learn guitar, with classic models that will make them look cool, sound great, are easy to play, all at an affordable price.
While many naturally think an acoustic guitar is the best place to start for beginners, an electric guitar can be an equally great place to start, if not better. The ‘lighter’ strings of an electric guitar make it great for beginners as it won’t hurt their fingers as much as the thicker strings on an acoustic guitar, and an electric guitar can also be plugged into an amp allowing you to get a wider range of sounds by adjusting the settings, with distortion and overdrive being the sound many beginner learners want to have. Most electric guitars tend to be more ergonomic too, especially in the case of the ever-popular Stratocaster which has a contoured body, making it more comfortable to play.
There are also Squier Affinity packs available that have everything you need to start playing right away - so you don’t need to spend time researching and shopping for all the accessories separately, which is handy if you don’t know much about guitars.
This series combines a reliable brand with affordable options of classic guitars, such as the Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazzmaster, and Starcaster, as well as a range of bass guitars for beginners, including the Bronco, Precision Bass, Jazz Bass, Jazz Bass V, and the new Jaguar Bass. The series has received its first update since 2017, with improved features and new colours.
What makes these an upgrade from another entry-level series, the Squier Bullet range, is the higher-quality parts in the guitars. The Squier Bullet series use Basswood for the body and ceramic pickups - materials that keep the cost low. The Affinity series uses Alder and Poplar bodies and higher-quality pickups, which play a huge part in the sound quality.

C-Shaped Neck Profiles
The quality of a guitar neck makes a huge difference to the playing experience - it can make playing either uncomfortable and painful, or pleasurable and fun, which is important if you’re a beginner and want to be able to practice for a long time without your hand hurting.
The Squier Affinity Series models have ‘C’ shaped neck profiles, which is the most universally comfortable shape and is great whether you’re playing chords or soloing single notes. They’re made from maple, a durable tonewood and have a satin urethane finish, letting your hand glide easily up and down the neck.
Pickups and Circuitry
The Squier Affinity Series uses Fender blueprints for the pickup configurations and circuitry, so you know you’re getting a classic, reliable Fender sound - which is important as a beginner who wants their guitar to sound and feel great. The Jazzmaster HH and Precision Bass PJ have some adaptations, but don’t cut corners on quality - they are upgrades to make them more attractive.
SQUIER AFFINITY ELECTRIC GUITARS
Squier Affinity Telecaster
The Telecaster is a classic model known for its bright, punchy sound, and the ‘Tele twang’. One of the pickups is mounted on a metal plate which delivers a more ‘powerful’ sound than the Stratocaster.
The refreshed Squier Affinity Telecasters have newly-voiced single-coil pickups for improved tone, a 6-saddle string-through-body Telecaster bridge for improved resonance, a satin neck finish with gloss headstock and updated headstock logos, sealed-gear tuning machines with split shafts which makes it easier to restring your guitar, and new colours.
The Squier Affinity Telecaster Deluxe is a new addition to the Affinity range, featuring retro looks and dual humbuckers.
Squier Affinity Stratocaster
The Stratocaster is a classic and versatile guitar - perhaps the most popular guitar in the world. They’re known for their articulate, bright sounds coming from the traditional pickup configuration of three single-coil pickups. There are also options to have a pair of humbuckers instead, which tend to produce warmer tones or get the best of both with an HSS configuration, which means you get a humbucker and two single-coil pickups.
The refreshed Squier Affinity Strat features newly-voiced single-coil pickups for improved tone, a modern 2-point tremolo bridge for great intonation and smoother action, a satin neck finish with gloss headstock and updated headstock logos for a fresh look, and sealed-gear tuning machines with split shafts which make restringing your guitar easier.
The Squier Affinity Stratocaster is available with different features:
Squier Affinity Jazzmaster
The iconic Jazzmaster is popular among guitarists who play surf rock, indie, and grunge. There’s the option for either dual humbuckers (providing a warmer sound) or a pair of single-coil pickups (a more articulate, bright sound), and sealed-gear tuning machines with split shafts for easy restringing and accurate tuning.
This model is available with a pair of humbuckers and a hardtail bridge, or with a pair of single-coil pickups and a 2-point tremolo bridge (this means you can bend the pitch with the bar attached to the bridge)
Squier Affinity Starcaster
The Squier Affinity Starcaster has a semi-hollow body, which provides more resonance, and delivers a versatile sound with its offset body shape. It has a pair of humbuckers, delivering a warm sound, a stop tailpiece for tuning stability, chrome-plated hardware and a comfortable ‘C’-shaped neck with a maple fingerboard.
SQUIER AFFINITY BASS GUITARS
Squier Affinity Jaguar Bass
The Squier Affinity Jaguar Bass is a new body shape for the Affinity Series, with an easy-to-play medium 32" scale length, and a ceramic humbucker for a fat, punchy tone.
Squier Affinity Precision Bass PJ
The Squier Affinity Precision Bass PJ is a versatile bass guitar with a ‘PJ’ pickup configuration, which means it has a split single-coil P Bass neck pickup that delivers a punchy tone, and a single-coil J Bass pickup at the bridge which offers a singing high-end.
Squier Affinity Jazz Bass
The Squier Affinity Jazz Bass has two Squier J Bass single-coil pickups for a variety of tones, from a punchy low-end to an articulate high-end.
Squier Affinity Jazz Bass V
5-String basses are usually a more high-end purchase, being used by more advanced bassists, but now Squier brings this to an affordable, accessible level, featuring two Squier single-coil J Bass pickups for a range of tones.
Squier Affinity Bronco Bass
The Squier Affinity Bronco is a short scale (30”) bass which means it’s ideal for beginners and children, whereas a standard bass typically has a 34" scale length. It has an offset body shape made from poplar, a lightweight tonewood, a single-coil pickup, a 2-saddle chrome bridge, and a maple neck and fretboard with a 9.5" radius.
AFFINITY PACKS
The Squier Affinity Packs are great for beginners who don’t want to separately search for and buy everything you need to get started. The packs include everything you need to start playing right out of the box. Every pack has a Squier guitar or bass, an amplifier, gig bag, accessory bundle, and a free 3-month subscription to Fender Play - the best way to learn quickly.
